| Packing the donations for Cambodia |
Now that the countdown is measuring in hours rather than days there is finally dawning a realisation that we will be getting on a plane tomorrow and starting to
do all these things we've been talking about for months. Top of mind right now (beyond getting all the washing clean and dry, putting the house in order for our house sitters, remembering to take all those tricky items you always forget, and hoping the dog will forgive us) is the Cambodian leg. Over the past month we've received donations of either money or items and it has been super exciting to gather everything together. Qantas have allowed us 40kg excess baggage at no charge (Jetstar not so generous) and we'll defnitely fill it. We have all been been practising a craft activity (beaded animals) to teach the children over there - for a few days we went a bit overboard and created a mini-zoo, ladybirds, geckos, crocodiles, fish butterflies, giraffes (ok so maybe a weird kind of zoo!) But I think it was the moment the children really caught the vision for our time in Cambodia.
Top of mind for Katriel is having her birthday in Italy, and thinking about (and even wanting to Google) the kinds of toys they have in Italy that would be suitable for birthday presents :) It's good to be focussed I guess. She has cried each night in bed this week because she simply "can't wait" for Saturday to come. I wonder how many milliseconds of sitting in one place on an aeroplane will blunt that enthusiasm!
To the vacuum!
